Atomgrad Raid Guide for The Modern Warfare 2 Season 1

The Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded update is now available, and it includes Call of Duty’s first-ever Destiny-style Raid. This is a team mission that requires puzzle solving, close teamwork, and communication. Our comprehensive guide will show you how to complete the Raid and reap its rewards.

What are Modern Warfare 2 Raids?
Raids continue the story of Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, and this is a trio mode with a mix of stealth, action, and puzzle-solving objectives that feel very similar to Call of Duty’s Zombies Easter eggs. Season 1 Reloaded began on December 14 with Episode One: Atomgrad. This is the first of five seasonal Raid episodes, with each season of Modern Warfare 2 getting a new Raid episode.

How to Finish the Atomgrad Raid
To gain access to the Raid, you must first complete a challenge to earn a Raid Assignment. Here is our complete guide to the Atomgrad Raid.

Assuming you’re all lined up and ready to begin, here is a comprehensive explanation of the procedures to accomplish the Atomgrad Raid.

Step 1: Complete a puzzle to unlock the submarine doors.
Clear out the opponents from the beginning of the Raid, then follow the water to the back right side of the facility, where you’ll notice a chamber with a red light above the door. Go into the room. A table in the centre of the room has four monitors. You may enter another room with the same four-TV layout by pressing the red button on the wall to the right of the monitors. The first chamber is the primary area, however you’ll need to crack this cypher in both rooms.

The main area has a code box and an input machine.
To do this, you’ll need to divide your trio into distinct responsibilities. Have two players divide up, with one player assigned to each room’s monitors. The third person will be responsible for reading the codes.

The player in responsibility of deciphering the codes will be in the main chamber, at the code box in the corner to the left of those monitors. There are three characters printed on the code box. This code will be a combination of letters and digits from the United States and Russia.

Symbols as seen on the monitor
The first letter should be called out or described by the code person, and the other two participants must cycle through the cameras on the security monitors until they discover the one that displays a huge screen with a sequence of numbers and letters. When a player identifies the first letter that matches the first code on the box, they must yell out the number printed just below the matching letter. Rep for the last two letters on the code box. You’ll get a three-digit code in the end.

The code breaker should enter the three digits into the machine to the right of the first room’s TV displays. Because the same people cannot access the code box at the same time, you must all exchange roles to complete this stage.

Repeat the previous steps. Allow the new code person to shout out the letters to the monitor viewers one by one. Match the three digits and enter them into the right-hand machine.

This process must be repeated a third time, with the code person being whomever has not yet entered the codes. Enter the final code to for a door to open in the water area from where you came.

During the second and third decoding, you’ll see a fourth or five symbol on the code box. False symbols are used to fool you. If neither of the monitors shows the described symbol, skip it and continue shouting out letters until you have three digits to enter into the code machine on the right.

Step 2: Do a lot of swimming.
You’ll enter the freshly opened path through the water, but first take an air tank on a table on the left side of the room. Proceeding here provides a checkpoint.

There is only one air tank. To keep enough oxygen to navigate through the tunnel of water, you’ll need to pass the tank to each other while you swim. The road starts linear, but you’ll soon come to a gate and a red button.

One individual will need to breathe air from the tank while holding the button to open the gate and allow the others to pass. Then, immediately inside the gate, someone must press the red button to keep the entrance open for the third. Just beyond this gate is a flight of stairs leading out of the water and to a checkpoint.

To proceed, plunge back down into the water at the steps to descend farther into a flooded hallway. There will be tripwires, so try to avoid them as much as possible. Swim along the passage until you notice green glow sticks on the right signifying a doorway. Swim through the entrance on the opposite side of the chamber.

Swim directly through the door, avoiding these trip wires.
Continue down this corridor, take the first left, and swim through the debris. Continue down this corridor until you notice white arrows on the wall directing you to turn right. First, travel left and enter the air pocket within the elevator shaft. Be cautious of the trip wires here. This will also provide you with a new checkpoint so that if someone dies, they may safely resurrect here.

Checkpoint for the Elevator
Then return the way you came to follow the white arrows leading to a doorway on the wall. Follow the white arrows to a hole in the ground after opening the door. It’s riddled with trip wires, so proceed with caution. Send someone through who doesn’t have the air tank to trigger them, as anybody who dies here will respawn at the neighbouring elevator checkpoint, or send someone through first because the explosion shouldn’t kill them.

You’ll be falling down a long, tight tunnel, and you’ll have to keep sharing the air tank to live. Continue straight and follow a light until a point where you may swim up and climb out, landing you in a mineshaft-like region.

Continue down the passage to another area where you must drop down and swim through flooded tunnels. There will be wire fencing here; follow the fence on the left side. There will be yellow signs with arrows directing you through the turns; just keep sharing air to avoid anyone dying.

You’ll ultimately come upon a bunker door through which you may swim up and surface. This is a secure zone/checkpoint.

Step 3: Start the generator and unlock a door.
Inside the bunker, there is a generator. One player must remain near the generator and activate it. Send the player down to the underwater entrance using the air tank. To the left of the entrance is a chamber with a red button, and the third player must enter and press it. It must be kept down, same like the last door with a red button, and the player at the generator must join the player at the door to swim through. The individual who is left behind must wait while one of the other players holds the red button in a neighbouring room. Once everyone is back together, proceed up the stairs.

Step 4: Empty the armoury
A chamber full of weapons and equipment awaits you up the stairs. There will be a few adversaries here, so take them out, and then get suited up for a greater encounter ahead. You’ve been assigned the chore of cleaning up the armoury.

At start, you’ll be restricted to a hallway filled with foes and a Juggernaut. Remove them, then search for a red button inside the final chamber on the right. If you press it, you will be able to enter a new door.

This leads to a chamber with green lighting and a hole on the floor. Drop down and follow the tunnel’s straight course. This drops you into another tunnel with red lights. Keep an eye out for bomb drones here. You’ll find yourself in a circular area divided into pieces.

Take note of the two code machines located directly off where you initially arrived. A red room and a bluish-white lit room are located beyond that area. Remove all enemies and become acquainted with your surroundings. This will be the final room and puzzle.

Step 5: The last puzzle room
After the armoury has been cleared, one person must stand by the control panel in the red room, while another stands by the control panel in the blue room. You may interact with these panels to view codes similar to the previous cypher chamber you solved, but you aren’t limited to staring at monitors. The codes are in the rooms, and you’d like to have a brief look before moving on. These chambers may be lethal.

The third person should be prepared at the coding machines. To activate the code box for player three, the red and blue room teammates must simultaneously press their control panel buttons. The code player can then interact with the code box to begin the ciphering process.

To the right of the ammunition refill is a code machine.
This is pretty much like the previous cypher you cracked, but this one is going to be timed and with adversaries. The code person will call out the letters, and the teams in the red and blue rooms must shout out the number as rapidly as possible or assess whether the symbol is a fake symbol to skip.

When the first set of digits is successfully entered into the machine, bomb drones attack the red room, and the blue chamber fills with lethal fumes and AI foes. Avoid the gas by eliminating adversaries and bombing drones. Then, exchange roles because, as with the previous round, you must select a new individual for the code box in round two. To obtain the three digits, repeat the coding instructions. Rep this process for the third set.

The blue room is the most difficult, and it becomes increasingly difficult with the second and third sets of codes as the timer counts down. Because the gas and enemies make it difficult to get more than a glance at the code, I recommend putting the person with the best memory in the blue room for the later rounds.

Step 6: Defend until the doors open.
Once the door opens, you must defeat the AI opponents and bomb drones that are flooding into the area until time runs out. Defuse any bombs they might plant on the code box. There will be a juggernaut near the end.

You can spread out here, but these are really difficult waves of AI soldiers and bomb drones. My team found it best to all take cover and peek over the boxes around the code machines and stick together, watching different angles. Otherwise, if someone died too far away from the group, it was impossible to resurrect them.

The final stage is to have everyone interact with the door between the code box and the input machine after the countdown ends and the door unlocks. Now, you’ve beaten Modern Warfare 2’s first Raid episode and can enjoy a cutscene.
